First impressions: Other than the snap peas being not quite as vibrantly green as they could be, this matches the packaging pretty well. A co-worker who doesn’t eat frozen diet meals came over to investigate, saying, “That one smells really good.” And it does.
Gustatory impressions: The only tiny complaint I have about this meal is, as usual, the pasta is more done than I’d like. However, the plump little tortelloni, stuffed with cheese and mushrooms, are delicious. Having both peas & snap peas in a meal seems like overkill, but it works and both are crisp and fresh-tasting. The sun-dried tomatoes work well and the red peppers, usually a source of complaint from me, are inoffensive. The sauce is a tiny bit thin, I think, but tastes great, creamy and a little bit peppery. Altogether a pleasing taste experience.
Summary: For the record, this is one of my favorite Lean Cuisines of all time, and has been so since the Market Collection first became available in my area. I love mushrooms, and cheese, and snap peas, so this one’s right up my alley. I also love the steam-in-bag meals because they’re SO EASY. No complicated “remove film, cook for x minutes, stir, cook at 50% for X more minitues”, you just pop them in the microwave & that’s about it. Hardest part is dumping them out of the bag. Anyway, this particular meal is satisfying, delicious, and healthy, pretty much all you could ask for in a frozen diet meal!
