First impressions: This is a beautiful frozen diet meal. The variously hued, brightly colored vegetables make a nice counterpoint to the creamy sauce and lovely pasta. One of the ones that, if you plated it properly, would actually look like the package photograph. I don’t think you could ask for more than that. Also, it smells wonderful.
Gustatory impressions: FANTASTIC. This is about as good as diet frozen meals get. The orange and yellow carrots are delightful. The snap peas are a tiny bit overdone, but taste fresh. The peas pop between your teeth. The pasta part of the ravioli is nice, and the butternut squash filling is sweet with a hint of garlic, a nice contrast. The sauce is indeed creamy and it’s probably the best sauce I’ve had in a lean cuisine, a little sweet, a little savory. The tiny bits of walnut throughout the meal are a pleasant crunchy surprise in the midst of all the smooth creaminess. YUM.
Summary: Another one of my favorites here, which is probably not a surprise. It’s very, very tasty and surprisingly satisfying. There are only five raviolis, but they’re fairly large and well-stuffed. If you are trying to eat more vegetables, or want to enjoy a meatless meal, this is a great way to do that. This is one of my go-to dinners and a favorite since it first came out. I highly recommend it.
